It's the 80s and i'm about half-way through making a punk/new wave party mix tape when my turntable starts repeating itself. Unwilling to to back and re-record the mix, i batted the needle around on the record for half a second and stopped the tape. This is the part that isn't recognizable as "hey, st. Peter!".

My toaster oven's door makes this screeching sound whenever it gets hot. Pretty harsh and could be good for horror sound design. Recorded with a zoom h4n.

I started recording a vinyl lp into my computer before realising that i hadn’t set the anti-skate properly and the needle was stuck in the lead-in groove. I trimmed this bit of snap crackle n’ pop and kept it in the hope that it might be useful for me or anyone else. Have fun.

This is a precise emulation of the audible time signal broadcast by radio station wwv of the nist in the usa on shortwave. This recording was produced via a program i wrote that emulates the time signal and recreates it from scratch, but it conforms precisely to the specs of the real signal. The only part missing is the voice announcement of the time, which, in the real broadcast, is made during the last fifteen seconds of each minute (which is why the tone changes to just clicks during that time). There are two minutes in the recording, but it should be easy to loop it or otherwise modify it for other durations. Since this audio file was computer-generated from scratch, it contains no noise, but the real broadcast has some static and noise, especially at large distances from the transmitter in colorado. My apartment/studio was very quiet except for the steam heat so i put a mic in the middle of the room (an ear trumpet labs edwina) and put it through a lindell mic preamp and then into a focusrite 18i20 interface to record. This is the mono, 48khz, 32-bit file for your dining and dancing pleasure. Actually, it's just room tone and can be mixed judiciously to cover gaps in your own tone or to make brand new rooms from scratch.

Whenever i use my usb stick, my computer always makes an awful noise. I decided to record it and see if any of you guys can make anything out of it. To me it sounds like some sort of aliens or robots talking to each other. The only editing done was noise removal to get rid of the fuzziness and amplification to make it a little bit louder. This ambience is a bit more earth-like compared to its predecessor, though any sound used here is either created from scratch or recorded: i used my own voice for the "bird" sounds and a crickets chirping recording for some background noise. Aside from myself and the crickets, no other animal was recorded to create this sound, so i think it's fair to define it as "alien". These are series of various flash bulb pop sounds designed by me for the war-themed short film project. I've decided to create those myself from scratch, because i could not find any proper recordings of those rare vintage flash bulb which were closed lamps that contained a magnesium filament along with oxygen gas that would be ignited and create a significant pop followed by short crackle.
